This role involves working closely with students, educators, and staff to facilitate meaningful and effective communication through American Sign Language (ASL), ensuring an inclusive learning environment. Location: Salem, VA (with travel requirements) Key Responsibilities: Provide accurate and professional ASL interpretation during classroom sessions, meetings, and school events. Facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and hearing individuals in educational settings. Collaborate with teachers and support staff to promote accessibility and inclusion. Adapt interpreting techniques to suit various educational environments and individual student needs. Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain certification and stay current with ASL standards. Desired Qualifications: Proficiency in American Sign Language with formal certification or equivalent experience. Previous experience interpreting in school or educational environments is highly preferred. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in diverse settings.
