MedStar Health is actively recruiting for a Clinical Pharmacy
Specialist I to join our Oncology pharmacy team at MedStar
Georgetown University Hospital. Recent Oncology PGY2 Pharmacy
Residents are welcome to apply.
Under limited supervision, provides a higher level of direct
patient care pharmacy services for an assigned, specialized patient
population to assure adequate patient care according to
professional standards and practices. Advises/consults with
patients and their families and with the medical and nursing staff.
Participates in research and drug use outcomes management programs
within specialty area; instructs and trains pharmacy residents and
students. Acts as a mentor to clinical pharmacists
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Doctoral degree PharmD or an equivalent Pharmacy degree from an
accredited college of Pharmacy required
Experience
PGY-1 and PGY-2 required or
PGY-1 plus 2 years of direct patient care experience in a
specialized area required or
5-7 years of hospital experience with at least 4 years in a
specialized area required
Licenses and Certifications
RPH - Registered Pharmacist Licensure as a Pharmacist in
Washington, DC required
Board certification in area of specialty required. Recent Oncology
PGY2 Pharmacy Resident may have one year to secure board
certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
PROBLEM SOLVING: Job requires a relatively high level of
problem-solving to find solutions to difficult human, technical,
clinical or administrative problems.
INTERNAL CONTACTS: Internal contacts necessary to effectively
advise, consult or counsel others to gain cooperation and
acceptance of ideas or actions
INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT: Work is occasionally performed according to
existing procedures and instructions but often requires analysis of
problems and development of solutions. This involves determining
appropriate methods and task sequences
PATIENT CARE: Assists with patient care by performing duties that
allow others to provide direct patient care (e.g., performing lab
tests).
RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK OF OTHERS: Responsible as an individual
contributor but may sometimes direct one or two other employees
Verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills
preferred
This position has a hiring range of $118,331 - $230,172
