students, alumni, and community. POSITION OVERVIEW: KIPP DC
occupational therapists are responsible for delivering effective,
high-quality, interventions that are data driven. In addition, the
occupational therapist will be responsible for managing
stakeholders throughout the special education process. The
occupational therapist is an exempt role and will report directly
to the student support campus director. RESPONSIBILITIES: Service
Delivery: 70% Provide targeted, evidence-based therapeutic
intervention to facilitate student participation and occupational
performance within the school environment Develop occupationally
based intervention plans based on student needs and evaluation
results Conduct occupational evaluations Stakeholder Management:
20% Participate in case conferences to discuss student goals and
plans Collaborate with the student support services team to ensure
understanding of student occupational performance strengths and
needs through evaluation, educational program planning, and service
deliver Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to review
evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines,
offer recommendations, and develop individualized education plans
and intervention plans to achieve IEP goals Provide continuing
education and in-service training for educational personnel,
parents, and community based service providers Serve as a full-time
and engaged member of KIPP DC's staff, including activities like
attendance to teacher/staff meetings, accompanying students on
field lessons, assisting with student recruitment and enrichment
activities, and working with other staff members to ensure
fulfillment of KIPP DC's mission. School and Community Support: 10%
Implements the school-wide student management policies within
classrooms and everywhere on campus Exhibits positive rapport with
students Creates and fosters a positive learning environment
Establishes and maintains strong communication lines with all
parents Available for Open Houses, Parent-Teacher Conferences and
other events involving parents outside of normal operating hours
QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree (required) • Candidates should
have successfully completed and graduated from an accredited
occupational therapy professional program recognized by NBCOT and
have completed all fieldwork requirements (required) • Two years of
experience as an occupational therapist, preferably in school
system or other pediatric practice setting (preferred) • Commitment
to working with limited access to quality educational opportunities
(required) • Experience working in a public school (preferred) •
Experience working in an urban school (preferred) • Strong
interpersonal skills and proven ability to work as a member of a
team • A deep commitment to develop and contribute to a community
of educators • Flexible and enthusiastic Compensation & Benefits:
When it comes to compensation, at KIPP DC we strive for clarity,
equity, and to be highly competitive. We look at compensation
benchmarks in schools across DC. Occupational Therapist salaries
are exempt and start at $82,620 and increase with years of
experience. Please see the salary scale here. Occupational
Therapists can earn up to $4,000 in renewal add-ons to their base
salary each year they return to KIPP DC. KIPP DC offers a robust
benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurances;
various voluntary benefits; and employer paid benefits such as
short term disability, long term disability, life insurance, and a
membership to One Medical. KIPP DC also offers a 403(b) retirement
account with a 3% employer contribution and a 3% match with vesting
after three years. Currently, individuals in this role have up to
10 paid sick days, 12 paid holidays, paid Thanksgiving week break,
winter break, spring break, and summer break. This is subject to
change and your exact schedule will be shared in your offer letter.
