those we serve. The Need For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the
work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times
in the last decade, IJM’s Justice System Strengthening Projects
have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large
populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact
to protect 500 million people from violence , we are seeking a
Faith and Church Partnerships, Manager to join our team. This
position works with IJM’s Global Programs team, overseeing the
vision, development, and capacity to partner with faith leaders and
organizations to address forms of violence against women and
children and modern slavery. This position is hybrid (onsite
Tuesdays & Thursdays) in the Washington, DC area . It reports to
the Global Vice President of Program Excellence and is only
available for candidates with the right to work in the US.
Responsibilities : Leadership and Management Develop and drive a
measurable and time-bound approach to build strategic faith
partnerships, guided by IJM’s Church Partnerships Strategy and the
program portfolio strategies that r espond to programming and
project needs and create efficiencies for project-based leadership
and staff. Lead the creation and development of global products and
services to enhance and accelerate partnerships with faith-based
organizations and leaders. Build and strengthen relationships with
and between project staff tasked to programmatically engage
traditional, faith, and other critical community leaders to advance
the mission. Strategy & Knowledge Development & Implementation
Identify , develop, and advise project teams on faith-centric
curriculum and programming materials that advance programming
objectives for faith-based partnerships and align with
evidence-based models and practices (internal and external).
Identify and, with project team support, implement opportunities
and innovations to accelerate IJM’s progress to address forms of
violence through the lens of faith engagement. Develop, lead, and
participate in relevant communities of practice for IJM’s program
staff to share best practices and facilitate other cross-Regional
learning platforms. Applying best practice in social and behavior
change science and insights from faith leader engagement, equip IJM
teams to build strategic partnerships that increase access to
justice and validate just outcomes for survivors of violence.
Networking & Partnership Aligning and planning with IJM staff who
engage churches and faith leaders across the organization, conduct
and support targeted thought-leadership activities (publications,
speaking engagements, relationship building, and networking) with
priority faith leaders, faith-based organizations, and networks
that serve Global Programs’ portfolios. Identify , map, and engage
with faith-based organizations and leaders to build strategic
agreements that foster effective, place-based programming
partnerships . Convene and contribute to faith-based global
coalitions to influence IJM’s global advocacy targets and build
thought-leadership to address violence Contribute to stakeholder
mapping for the programming portfolio’s external engagement plans
(and implementation of external engagement plans). Stay up to date
on faith-led initiatives and movements that work in support of or
against addressing violence (local, regional, national, global),
offering critical analysis and recommendations to support IJM’s
mission. Communication Routine engagement with relevant leaders and
staff across the organization. Update relevant Global Programs
SharePoint site with information and intelligence to inform
strategy implementation. Document the role of faith partnerships in
interventions, ensuring that MERL’s monitoring data, programming
experiences, and lessons learned are captured in ways that expand
our expertise and implementation. General Tasks Participate and add
value to the Global Programs Center for Excellence team (subject
matter programming experts). Coordinate relevant resources, staff
participation, and the implementation of agreements to ensure the
implementation of faith partnership approaches. Responsible for
internal communication with relevant project , regional, and global
staff to ensure effective and professional engagement externally.
Contributes to overall Global Programs strategic initiatives and
works in alignment with programming and team objectives . Uses
IJM’s data systems (JDS) and processes (feedback loops, performance
management, etc. ) to ensure alignment with other teams and
initiatives. Qualifications : Master’s degree in theology
preferred. Bachelor’s degree in theology, biblical studies,
international development, social sciences, or related field ;
Minimum 7 years' experience working with and demonstrating value
from faith leaders’ engagements with specific experience working
cross-culturally and religiously, including engagement with the
Catholic church, Protestant denominations, and Muslim leaders;
Minimum 7 years of experience working in international development,
with specific experience in program management, strategic program
design, and community development; Familiarity with social and
behavior change science, with experience successfully applying
behavior change models programmatically; Minimum 3 years of
experience contributing programmatically to address human rights,
with experience addressing violence against women preferred;
Experience designing and implementing programming in Latin America
and East Africa preferred ; Proven ability to contribute to
detailed development and systems-change programming; Proven ability
to cultivate and champion strategic partnerships for global impact;
Strong public speaker; Proven ability to develop and innovate
successful, goal-oriented strategies; Systems builder who thrives
on creating structures that enable others to succeed; Exceptional
written and verbal communication skills; Spanish proficiency
preferred; and Knowledgeable about global and national level public
health and justice systems approaches and evidence-based
programming to address VAWC preferred. Critical Qualities: Eager
